Comment Spam Inspiration

Just a quick text-based greeting to my dedicated listeners; I'm not gone and the summer cold wasn't the end of me, but I was clobbered by the usual start-of-term crush at work (plus a few exciting variations thrown in). ..

But "Emma" might just have inspired me to return to the world of podcasting a.s.a.p. with her lovely comment:

Hello there, I was looking for same kind of information what your website have. I kinda like it. Excellent content. Please keep up this good work. Hope to come back again.

Regards,
British Shopping and voucher code directory

I'm so excited to have apparently cornered the British shopping directory market... or, at least, the portion of British shopping directories that include voucher codes (which, when you consider your shopping directory needs, are probably important for the British).

I can just imagine Emma's lilting accent reciting poetic statements like, "I was looking for same kind of information what your website have."

"What your website have" -- how creative! How magical. No need for those "t-words" like "the" or "that" if you have Emma's grace and personality. "I kinda like it too," Emma. I look forward to your next visit; indeed, my good work will continue to be kept up!

  • Emma = spam and/or scam?

  • Yup, it's spam. The link in her account was to a website for some British shopping site, with the idea being that the search engines spot that phrase in signature together with the website URL and assume that my site is recommending it. It's pretty clever.... for 2003. Today, most search engines know to overlook those things.

  • A bit off topic, but inspirational spam is my favorite kind of spam. There's no harm done in clicking on them, and you get a nugget of thought for free.
