Ericast 52 - "Our Big World"

Finally, the contest results you've all been waiting for! Listen to find out if Joann gets embarrassed... or not!

The general topic is just my brief musings on the fact that, in a lot of ways, "it's a small world", yet when you're up in a plane you realize that the world is really huge and there are lots of people in it. The verbal form of that thought as it exists in the Ericast is slightly more deep than that, but not by much. Enjoy!

Ericast 51 - "Properties of Avocado"

This week brings lots of comments, and lots of miscellaneous clips of stuff... so if you'd like to hear something other than my voice, you're in for a treat!

My daughter makes an appearance, too -- you'll like that.

To reiterate the challenge and contest mentioned in this week's episode of the Ericast:

1) Tell one friend a week about the Ericast. Send him/her to Ericast.com, have him/her download a podcast, whatever. Spread the joy. Then, as those people start listening, we can hope that they'll tell one friend a week. That's all it takes!

2) Call the listener feedback line at 206-339-ERIC (that's 206-339-3742) with your vote on whether I should embarrass Joann and run the infamous outtakes sweeper next week. I'll tally the votes (one call per person, please), air them, and let my listeners decide Joann's sweeper fate.

Enjoy! And by the way... can I just say that it's really hard to spell "avocado" properly? (And note that pairing up the words "avocado" and "properly" is much different from the phrase "avocado property".)

Ericast 50 - "Passive about Solar"

Celebrating 50 exciting episodes! We end up talking about passive solar technology (as embodied in expensive suburban homes), but we get to that topic through a Hello to Vic (calling to comment on there being way too much death lately), an update on Coca-Cola and their contest (including the question, "What's an 'unseen space'?!?"), references to digedia.com, uplifter and William Gibson's "The future is here; it just isn't evenly distributed yet", and the fact that Google Adsense looks awesome on the HomeDeals blog (at homedeals.blogspot.com), but what would be the revenue stream for a property podcast that may or may not contain photos in an Enhanced AAC feed that might or might not be viewable?

Plus some politics (and a couple Michael Moore references) thrown in for good measure.

All that to get to the simple fact that "Passive Solar requires Active Owners". Wow.

By the way, we close with a clip from Elizabeth Hunnicutt, so be sure to check out her site at www.elizabethhunnicutt.com

Remember, eric at ericast.com is the e-mail and 206-339-ERIC (206-339-3742) is the phone number -- write or call, and even if you don't, enjoy and take care!

Ericast 49 - "Coke's Missing Contest"

This week, a "rant and a record" minus the record, based on a really lousy attempt at marketing by a huge soda conglomerate that shall remain nameless (despite the fact that its name is in the title of this episode of the Ericast).

Got any ideas about how I should celebrate 50 episodes next week? Not that it'll be easy to top this week's episode...

If you want to follow up on my one non-pop-related topic, be sure to visit http://homedeals.blogspot.com and see what my wife's been up to!

Remember, 206-339-ERIC (that's 206-339-3742) with all your fascinating (or not) comments, questions, ideas, concerns, or feedback!

Ericast 48 - "Too Much Death"

I'm tired of people dying. Here are my comments on that sad fact of life. (Nothing terribly profound -- this kind of problem has been around for a long, long time.)
